Today was our first beta which measures the amount of pregnancy hormone in your blood. We were hoping for a number of 50 or greater. The higher the number, the greater chance for multiples. I just got the call around 12:20 today that our number is 33.
The nurse did say that could mean late implantation of the embryo(s) which is perfectly fine, and at the very worst it could mean we are experiencing a chemical pregnancy, which is the earliest form of a miscarriage. It is termed a chemical pregnancy because pregnancy tests and blood tests are able to detect the pregnancy hormone, or hCG, but the embryo is no longer developing. Here is the definition from the web: "A positive hCG level in the blood that fails to continue to rise and does not lead to a clinical pregnancy."
So please pray. I'm pretty scared, but trying to think positively about the news. I'm praying so hard and hoping God's plan includes good news on Saturday when we test again.
Our next beta test is Saturday, 9/1 at 10:45 CST. We are looking for our number to at least double. If not, it could mean we have to try again with a second FET.
Praying for the embryo(s) to grow,
Taryn

Taryn and Ernie -
We were very excited for you when we heard the news you guys were expecting(I asked Tina to send me your blog). In spite of your new update, we'll keep praying and hoping for good news. We hope this is just a minor set back. Just remember, God is good, all the time...and whatever happens, just stay strong in your faith and God will see you through. He has great things in store for you both. Hope you get great numbers and news on Saturday! We'll keep you all in our prayers! Betty & Royce
T & E, Continue to pray for you both in this wonderful adventure of faith you are on. I read Psalm 91 yesterday & encourage you to read it too. I just read a great new book: The Importance of Being Foolish: How to Think Like Jesus by Brennan Manning. It obviously is a book that is 'in the face of the world' regarding thinking. That being, as you know, seeing is believing. We are taught & believe that faith is believing before we see, and really, before we even have the things we're dealing with in this life, our true faith walk begins when we totally trust our lives to the Lord Jesus Christ. There are 3 things Brennan mentions in the book that keep us from thinking & ultimately living as Christ. They are: Power, Pleasure, & Security (ponder that deep thinkers!) You both are in that 'floating supernatural' place of your faith where your eyes are upon our Lord, and NOT the world. Thank you for being so transparent & sharing from you heart about the road you are traveling. Our hearts & prayers are with you always. Love, Allena & David P.
p.s. Would love to have a baby shower for you at our home (again faith, faith, faith!!!) XOXOXO
